StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm Gets Release Date; Pre-Orders Available Now

Blizzard has officially announced the release date of their upcoming StarCraft II expansion, Heart of the Swarm, as well as opened up digital pre-ordered at battle.net. This new expansion makes a great deal of changes to the multiplayer game and UI elements of StarCraft as well as continuing the epic single-player campaign that began with Wings of Liberty.

Players of other Blizzard titles will also fine additional incentive to pre-order the Digital Deluxe edition of Heart of the Swarm, by unlocking a Baneling minipet for World of Warcraft, additional profile pictures and a new Ultralisk skin for StarCraft II and Queen of Blades hero wings and sigil addons for Diablo III. Players who pre-order the digital deluxe will also unlock many of these features immediately, except for the expansion itself.

The standard expansion will be available on March 12, 2013 nationwide.

Stolen Copies Of Resident Evil 6 Have Been Sold

Copies of Resident Evil 6 have been stolen and sold in Poland just weeks ahead of the game’s official release date, Capcom confirmed. Thankfully the amount of stolen Resident Evil 6 copies were very minimal.

“Capcom is currently undertaking a thorough investigation into reports that Resident Evil 6 is being sold ahead of its official October 2 release date,” Capcom told Eurogamer. “At this time, all we can add is that it would appear this unfortunate incident is limited to a small quantity of stolen copies of the German USK PlayStation 3 version of the game.”

These reports just came up at the end of last week, and so far just seems to revolve around one or two shops selling these stolen goods. Capcom didn’t say how many copies of the game were stolen, but they did say it was a small quantity. A buyer on eBay is trying to grab a copy of Resident Evil 6 for loads of money with the bid starting at 478.78 euros with a buyout of 1196.71 euros. The auction has been pulled as far as I could tell, but another one did go up very recently and hasn’t been pulled yet.

Mists of Pandaria Release Date Announced; Pre-Sales are Live!

That’s right! Defenders of Azeroth prepare to set off on a new exploration to the long lost continent of Pandaria on September 25th!

Announced this morning by Blizzard PR, the wait is now over and fans and enthusiasts of the game can now expect the newest expansion coming their way in roughly two months. With a new level cap soon to set from 85 to 90, a new playable race in the Pandaren and a new Monk class soon to be implemented as well as player-to-player pet battles and so much more Mists of Pandaria has raised the bar in variety in comparison to expansions past. Included in the press release CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment, Mike Morhaime, states:

“Mists of Pandaria contains the biggest variety of new content we’ve ever created for a World of Warcraft expansion, with features that will appeal to new players, veterans, and everyone in between. We’ve received a lot of great feedback from players during our most extensive beta test yet, and we hope they enjoy exploring everything Pandaria has to offer when the expansion comes out in September.”

So we know what features we’ll soon get to play to our hearts content and now we know when, but how much? Well as stated on the splash page of the main World of Warcraft website, a standard edition physical copy of the game will be available for $39.95 at local retailers. Additionally, fans of all things digital can pre-purchase a digital deluxe edition of Mists of Pandaria for $59.95. Included in the digital deluxe edition will include:

And of course for the collectors in us all, there indeed will be a Collector’s Edition. In tow with a copy of the full length release and all the bonus additions from the digital deluxe package, you can also expect the following bonus exclusives:

-          Behind-the-Scenes DVD and Blu-Ray: Learn about the creation of Pandaria with this two-disc set featuring over an hour of commentary, insider interviews, and developer roundtables.

-          Chen Stormstout Mouse Pad: Equip your desk with this special-edition mouse pad featuring the legendary pandaren brewmaster.

As of this time, I have not seen details on costs of the collector’s edition pre-order but when announced, this post will be updated.

Until then, we’ve got a few weeks to tie any loose ends before pandas attack! I for one have a digital deluxe pre-order on the way. A Night Elf Templar portrait for Starcraft II? That was a dealbreaker. What are you looking forward to in the weeks ahead? Leave a comment below and let us know!

Pokemon Black/White 2 Release Date!

Looking through my various Nintendo sources, I must have missed this but there is now an actual release date for Pokemon Black/White 2! No, I am not kidding!

After hearing about how many copies it has managed to move in Japan (2 million and rising!) it is going to be heading towards the UK and the US, but sadly not soon enough for my liking. I’ve seen no gameplay with my own eyes so I have no clue as to whether the game actually will be in 3D but I do await with baited breath though. Are you eager to see what the game entails? Oh me too. I have no shame. I adore Pokemon games, I’ve played every single one of them and they just seem to be coming out with new bits and pieces for the games each time. From colour graphics to updated battle mechanics and pedometers in the shape of a Pokeball- who knows what they have planned next?

Actually, according to the trailer- we can now make our very own Pokemon movies now. And go to Burbank…does this mean we go on a pilgrimage to California? Seems odd to me when the core idea about the Pokemon is ‘Gotta Get ‘Em All!’. You’ll get to battle Pokemon from every game too so we get to see the oldies again like Pikachu, Squirtle and even the oddball Psyduck. So the core idea is still there, but I’m still confused about the movie making and trip to Burbank. Well, I hope it explains itself in the game.

The release date for the US is October 7th 2012 and in the UK, the game will be released October 12th 2012. Get in line! :)

Guild Wars 2 Release Date and Final Beta Weekend Revealed

After many years of waiting, Guild Wars 2 is finally on it’s way to release. Mike O’Brien, the CEO of ArenaNet told us in a blog post that Guild Wars 2 will launch on Tuesday, August 28th.

“This is an incredibly momentous day for the studio and for me personally. This journey began in 2007 when we first announced that we were beginning work on Guild Wars 2 and that you wouldn’t be hearing from us for a while. Then in 2010 we unveiled our manifesto for Guild Wars 2: a living breathing online world that challenges convention, that’s designed for fun instead of grind, and that brings social interaction to a new level in an online world.”

“Through all the long hours and hard decisions, we were bolstered by the knowledge that we were not in this alone. All along you’ve been there for us, cheering us on, supporting us when we needed it, testing early versions of the game, and above all, giving us your honest feedback every step of the way. Guild Wars 2 is a better game for all of the work that our community has put in.”

“Now that we’re just two months away from launch, we’ll spend our remaining time optimizing, polishing, and balancing the game, to ensure that we provide you with the best launch-day experience we possibly can.”

“To this end, I’m excited to announce that our next and final Beta Weekend Event is planned for July 20-22,” Mike O’Brien says.

For some people, I’m sure the two weeks notice into work has already been put in, but now that they’ve announced the release date, what race and class are you looking forward to playing? Are you even looking forward to the game?

Far Cry 3 Release Wait

Ubisoft’s Far Cry 3 has been pushed back for release until November 30th in the UK and until December 4th in the US. The company has stated the reason that the game needs ‘some extra polish’.

It was originally slated for a September release.  Sadly, with the later release date this means that there will now be a dog fight competition for the top place. Going up against Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 and Halo 4 will certainly not be pretty.

Hope fully, this tough competition will not hurt the chances of some decent sales for Far Cry 3, which impressed the crowds at E3 with it’s partial nudity and animal slaughter.

What’s The Price?

Are you looking forward to playing on the new Nintendo Wii U? Well, you might be in luck to know that different places on the Internet keep posting exciting prices for the Wii U. Nintendo told us all at E3 that we would be pleasantly surprised at the price of the next generation console and so far- it seems like we will be! Today, Amazon posted a price on their UK website of £199 ($310), which is a good £80 ($124) cheaper than the first price of £280 ($440). That price tag was posted by a company called ShopTo.

A disclaimer on their website reads “PLEASE NOTE: All information on this product page, including our price, is subject to change. Normal pre-order price promise does not apply to this product at this time. Price may change pending full details from Nintendo.”

There is no kind of disclaimer posted on the Amazon website. Nikkei on the other hand is posting a price range around ¥30,000 - which works out at  £250 ($380).

Also, in other news- Amazon is also posting a release date of July 2012. That seems a little soon to me, as we were told at E3 that they were shooting for the holiday season of Christmas. But I guess it’s all just a case of ‘Watch This Space!’ at the moment.
