Listen up Pokemon fans. Are you one of those players that has been playing Pokemon since the days of Red/Blue/Yellow? Do you buy Prima guides for every single game so you can track all the Pokemon and ‘catch ’em all’?
Creatures Inc. (the co-creator of the Pokemon series) has been a little busy with their tech savvyness.
In Japan and on iOS, a digital Pokedex has appeared on the iTunes Store. It’s no real use to anyone that can’t read kanji- but hopefully the app will come to the US/UK stores soon enough. Currently priced at about 170 yen, this roughly converts into about £1.50/$2.25. Upon downloading the app, you’ll see that all the creatures from the latest games (Black/White 2) will be available for you to check off. Other packs will be available for purchase also, which when purchasing all the packs from the past generations will set you back about £17/$35. Which is roughly about the same price as a paper guide that may just gather dust on your shelf for the next few years.
It seems a little expensive, and maybe the whole thing will come down in price before it hits our shores. We shall just have to wait and see
I appear to have gotten myself some kind of a reputation around these parts for being the ‘LEGO Guru’. Yes, I’m a fan. Yes, I own most of the games (all the Star Wars, Harry Potter and Batman LEGO games *whistles nonchalantly* ) and I grew up playing with the famous plastic bricks, as is now my daughter. So yes, you could say I’m some what of a fan.
So when I did my first piece about the Lord of the Rings trilogy being immortalised in brick form, my heart leapt in joy while my stomach flipped like some tumbling acrobat. Happy days! Watching the trailer a few months ago, this game seems to break a few of the usual LEGO rules which TT Games started in the second Batman game. The tongue-in-cheek humour isn’t there so much, it’s a lot more obvious now. But the main thing is voice actors. And it’s actually pretty cool. As usual, TT Games came out fighting and it looks like they have another smash-hit in Lord of the Rings. Does this mean that there will be more of the game like Harry Potter and Star Wars? I assume so, but we will just have to wait and see.
For those of you out there chomping at the bit for this game- you can buy it now in the US and on November 23rd in Europe. Ah, you were attempting to buy Christmas gifts this year? Pfffft. I don’t think so…
You’ve scribbled before. Probably on a notepad, or in a bathroom stall (we’ve already told your teacher. You should be ashamed…) If you were lucky enough to have a gaming device, you might’ve scribbled some amazing things while playing the Scribblenauts series!
Well rejoice! If you are even MORE lucky and find yourself with a Wii U at your disposal later this year, than you can scribble your fingers dead with Scribblenauts Unlimited!
Helping Maxwell on his quest, players use their imaginations and dream powers to summon objects and weapons into the world to defeat enemies and solve puzzles. The newest installment of the game has a side-scrolling open world, and totally new HD drawings.
Not only that, but Zelda and Mario characters and objects are lending a helping hand as well. Goomba + Like Like RomCom anyone? No? Ok…
The game comes out on November 18th! Check it out!

News has broken out that a fire that was started in one of it’s Japanese factories will not hinder production of the Wii U console that is due out next month.
The company states that the incident has slowed production but will not affect the number of units shipped for the launch between November 18th in the US and November 30th in Europe. A stop on production for the Wii U would have been a devestating blow to Nintendo, as some retailers are already sold out on stock even before the release date.
Hopefully, no one was injured in the fire and Nintendo haven’t suffered too bad. Bring on the Wii U!
BAFTA award-winning composer Cris Velasco has been announced that he is scoring the soundtrack for Nintendo’s up-and-coming zombie thriller, ZombiU. It will be released with the new Nintendo WiiU console towards the end of the year.
Cris Velasco, (if you didn’t know who he was) is the same guy who worked on the soundtracks for Borderlands 2, Mass Effect 3 and the God of War franchise. He also worked on the soundtrack for Hellgate: London, which is a favourite game of mine. According to the press release, the soundtrack will be dark and twisted to fit the genre of the game.
“To immerse players in the zombie apocalypse setting and intense first-person experience of ZombiU, Cris Velasco composed a visceral hybrid action score featuring the raw sounds of detuned toys and instruments, carnival organs, distorted guitars, and haunting ambient textures, contrasted with the intimate emotion of piano and string quintet compositions.”
Sounds pretty cool, and I for one am looking forward to it.
A new trailer has been released for Paper Mario: Sticker Star. Watching the trailer through, it seems as though the game is a little more tricky than I once believed. It still looks like a very fun game, and I’m still going to be one of the first in line to buy it but I once believed that it would a bit of a simplistic game and aimed more towards the kid buyers of the market.
Having said this, obviously it shows that I have never played any of the Paper Mario games before this one and I’m really looking forward to it. So without further ado, here’s the trailer I promised. Enjoy
