BAFTA award-winning composer Cris Velasco has been announced that he is scoring the soundtrack for Nintendo’s up-and-coming zombie thriller, ZombiU. It will be released with the new Nintendo WiiU console towards the end of the year.
Cris Velasco, (if you didn’t know who he was) is the same guy who worked on the soundtracks for Borderlands 2, Mass Effect 3 and the God of War franchise. He also worked on the soundtrack for Hellgate: London, which is a favourite game of mine. According to the press release, the soundtrack will be dark and twisted to fit the genre of the game.
“To immerse players in the zombie apocalypse setting and intense first-person experience of ZombiU, Cris Velasco composed a visceral hybrid action score featuring the raw sounds of detuned toys and instruments, carnival organs, distorted guitars, and haunting ambient textures, contrasted with the intimate emotion of piano and string quintet compositions.”
Sounds pretty cool, and I for one am looking forward to it.
