Ouya Console Supports Four Controllers

August 9th, 2012 by Brad Ward

It’s been confirmed that the Ouya will be supporting up to four controllers.

If you’ve pledged to help support the Ouya console for $99, you can also pledge another $90 to receive an additional three controllers in March when they plan on shipping the console to their backers. If you expanded your budget and threw down money for the limited edition of the Ouya, the company will make sure the controllers are matched.

“What’s the point of playing in the living room if the other folks on the couch can’t join in?” the Ouya team asked on Kickstarter (they do have a point don’t they?).

In the midst of all that, it has been revealed that Ouya is currently talking with Namco Bandai about bringing its games to the console. Ouya encouraged those interested to go to the Namco Facebook page to vote on games they’d like to see put on the Ouya. With Namco’s history of porting games to other consoles, I sincerely hope the games they port to the Ouya will be good.

“When Kickstarter ends tonight at 10 p.m. PT, the Ouya team will be celebrating together,” it said. “It’s been a lot of work, and a wild 29-day ride, but we are so grateful for the support. Our first toast will be dedicated to you, the backers who made Ouya possible.

“After that, it’s back to work. We’ve got aggressive goals and we’re going to deliver. We’ll continue to push for the best content and coolest features we can bring to our little magic box. We’ll keep you apprised of the controller as it takes shape. We’ll continue to interact with you via Facebook, reddit, Twitter, Google+ and of course, our soon-to-come homepage at www.ouya.tv. And we’ll continue to listen to your requests, and answer your questions.

“We cannot emphasize enough how much your actions and attitudes have influenced us. You’ve taken our dreams and made them your own, and together we will make them real.

“With that, I tip my hat to you, our backers/founders/friends.”

Ouya was successfully funded on the Kickstarter page with eight times the amount they asked for. With a goal of only $950,000 they were able to get $8, 596, 475.
