Tell your wife and/or husband and kids goodbye, because coming in 2013 will be the first MMO to take place in the Elder Scrolls universe. Reported by Game Informer, Elder Scrolls Online will take place 1000 years before the events in Skyrim and tell the story of the “daedric prince Molag Bal [as he] tries to pull all of Tamriel into his demonic realm.”

Heading up the project is Matt Firor, a veteran of MMO development whose previous work includes Mythic’s Dark Age of Camelot. “It will be extremely rewarding finally to unveil what we have been developing the last several years,” Firor told Game Informer. “The entire team is committed to creating the best MMO ever made - and one that is worthy of The Elder Scrolls franchise.”

The article, appearing in the June issue of the magazine, will feature an in-depth look at questing, dungeons and more, as well as the three-faction PVP element.

The Elder Scrolls Online is slated for release in 2013 for PC and Mac.
