$99 Xbox 360 With Kinect Coming?
Microsoft is reportedly preparing to offer a $99 Xbox 360 bundle which will include the 4 GB version of the console plus a Kinect sensor to anyone who commits to a two year, $15 monthly Xbox Live Gold subscription.
According to a report from The Verge, the console could be announced as early as next week. The pricing of the package comes out to be around $40 more than if each product were purchased separately, but the option to pay monthly instead of all at once – not to mention any additional features that may be included to subscribers – could offset that price difference.
Could this be a sign of the future for console gaming? Like cell phone providers, console manufacturers could lock-in customers to their product for set periods of time and lock them in to their service. The move is bold, yet innovative, and could mean big things in the future.
