The rumor mills are in full churn right now as a variety of vague and cryptic messages have been posted to the Valve and IGN Twitter feeds all pointing to some kind of impending announcement. Earlier today, the Steam Support feed posted “Be sure to check out all the #Valve feeds: http://bit.ly/IOMbeD“, directing users to their collection of feeds but without any further clarification. IGN also posted to their Twitter feed a line from the Half-Life 2 opening cinematic, “Wake up and smell the ashes.” If this weren’t enough, it was determined that Valve recently made an update to the name records for half-life3.com yesterday, further piquing the collective interest of the gaming community.

As many gamers may know, the last entry in the Half-Life series came with Half-Life 2: Episode Two in 2007 and revelations of a third part to the series or even a third episode have been slim to none since then. That, partnered with a number of other Valve titles going as far as the 2nd entry (Portal, Left 4 Dead) have only furthered the joke that Valve is incapable of counting to three.

Whatever news may be waiting, Half-Life or not, we’ll be sure to keep you posted here at GKick.net!
