Mike Morhaime once again took to the Activision Blizzard earnings call to report some information regarding the company’s hit MMO World of Warcraft. The first bit of news reported is that WoW’s worldwide subscriber base is now down to 10.3 million players, a dip of 800,000 subscribers since the last report. Morhaime attributed this to the Asian market, noting that Cataclysm content was “consumed too quickly”. Morhaime also expressed concerns with the level of difficulty in Cataclysm end-game and promised a shift in focus for Mists of Pandaria.

Morhaime would also comment on the upcoming Patch 4.3, the final patch of the Cataclysm expansion cycle which will introduce a number of massive changes including the Deathwing raid, Dragon Soul. Morhaime said that he expects this patch to launch within the “next couple weeks”, meaning that 4.3 could arrive before the end of the month. This is keeping in line with the company’s original projection to have 4.3 released before the end of the year and should give the company roughly one month of new content before the launch of Star Wars: The Old Republic.

We’ll keep you posted as more details, and a firm release date, come available.
