Fans of the longest running animated series of all time, The Simpsons, were on edge this past week as speculation flourished regarding the future of the hit FOX show. Initial reports had said that FOX was demanding the top tier voice talent on the show take a paycut due to the show’s profitability after 23 years, but the crew wasn’t willing to make the size of cut FOX was demanding. While no new news broke on that front, another piece of information hit where a FOX executive was reportedly saying that the network - best case scenario - only wanted one more season anyway.

Well, fears were put to rest - at least for now. James L. Brooks, The Simpsons’ producer, took to his Twitter account to confirm that the show had been renewed for at least another two years, meaning The Simpsons would reach the 25th Season milestone. “Am crying animated tears of joy (which actually taste pretty good)The Simpsons is picked up for 2 more years.Apprapo blackboard joke 2 come,” he wrote.

While no additional news about the show’s future is forthcoming, it could be safe to say that after 25 years, it may be time to go out with a bang. Or at least another movie… perhaps.
